JULIA HUGG
I’m a Nashville-based travel advisor and mom of two young boys. I studied at UC Berkeley and spent 12 years in hospitality tech across San Francisco and New York before launching Hugg Travel Co, traveling to more than 30 countries along the way.
I travel to explore my passions in a way that’s authentic and unique to each destination. That means prioritizing vernacular design and architecture, responsibly engaging with nature and wildlife, shopping with local artisans, savoring regional food and wine, and diving into a place's history and culture.
I believe luxury is less about formality and more about how something makes you feel. It’s the kind of service that anticipates what you need before you ask, thoughtful design with a real sense of place, and experiences that celebrate the destination, its food and its people.
The trips I love most tend to mix a polished, five-star stay with somewhere more intimate and soulful. Dining is a core part of my itineraries, I always recommend a boat day, I collect artisan homewares as souvenirs, and I prioritize experiences that connect to local culture and nature.
Becoming a mom has shifted my priorities and approach to travel, and I love helping other families navigate the rewards (and the chaos) of seeing the world with kids.
My travel style
My background in hospitality tech and product marketing means I bring a strategic, operations-minded lens to every trip. I stay on top of new openings, cultural moments, and on-the-ground intel, and I’m always honest about where to splurge, where to save, and how to invest in a trip that truly aligns with your goals.
I typically anchor each day around one thoughtfully chosen experience, leaving plenty of space for wandering and the kind of discovery that makes a trip memorable.

Family Trip to Punta Mita
“The trip was AMAZING. Could not recommend it more. It was basically our own mini-luxury resort. The home was beautiful, the location was fantastic, and the pool was exceptional. The service was ridiculous - truly just perfect. They were so accommodating, thoughtful and just wonderful to have around. We're already planning our next trip back!”
40th Birthday to the BVIs
“Julia absolutely nailed my husband’s 40th birthday yacht trip through the BVIs. From iconic beach stops and hidden coves to perfectly timed lunches at the best restaurants, bars and beach clubs, every day felt thoughtfully planned but never over-scripted. The route, the crew, and the pacing were spot-on, which meant we could fully relax, celebrate, and soak up an unforgettable week on the water.”
Solo Journey through Asia
“This trip was absolutely incredible. I don’t think any honeymoon can ever compete, so you will have your work cut out for you whenever I get around to meeting/marrying my future husband. But seriously everything was so seamless, I felt so safe and supported, the hotels, guides and communication were flawless. I’m so happy you suggested I go to places I hadn’t even considered - this was truly the trip of a lifetime.”
